Resumen:
Biocompatible hydrogels are interesting materialsfor tissue engineering applications due to theirswelling characteristics and non-linear elasticnature, similar to natural tissues. In this work, fourtypes of hydrogels based on starch and poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA) were prepared and their swellingand mechanical behavior were studied. Accordingto the stiffness range, the swelling nature and thehyperleastic/ poroviscolelastic responses, thesehydrogels turn out to be candidates for thereplacement of the central intervertebral disc tissue.
