This presentation covers the following topics: i) Introduction to tissue engineering, definition and paradigms, porous structures as well as functions and requirements of biomaterials; ii) Scaffolds processing and fabrication techniques, nanofiber production methods; iii) Electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds: properties and applications; iv) Electrospinning: fundamentals, morphology and experimental variables, strategies to increase pore size; v) Polymeric nanofibrous scaffolds for biomedical applications: small-diameter vascular grafts, ports, in vivo myocardial tissue regeneration, and drug delivery of therapeutic agents.
