Resumen:
The use of hydride-forming metal alloys as hydrogen storage materials offers to provide high volumetric energy densities comparable to that of liquid hydrogen. Nickelmetal hydride (Ni/MH) batteries employ this type of metal alloy electrode for advanced electricity storage systems in electric vehicles. Advances in the compositional design of different alloy electrodes for use in Ni/MH batteries are described in this manuscript. A report is included on the physicochemical properties of these electrochemical hydrogenstorage materials and their application to hybrid cars.
