Resumen:
The aim of this work is to identify the forces that govern the dynamic behavior of polydispersegranular systems under high electric fields in air media. In a previous paper we reported thechanges of the morphology and dynamics of grain structures under a frequency and amplitudevariable voltage and summarized them in a diagram [L. M. Salvatierra, O. L. Cortés Bracho, P.L. Dammig Quiña, I. M. Irurzun, E. E. Mola, Chemical Physics Letters, 481 (2009) 194]. In thepresent article we investigate the influence of the grain size distribution and the speed of voltageincrease during tests. We explain the main transitions observed in the diagram in terms of thechange in grain size and the frequency-dependent electrical response, related to electrophoretic(EP) and dielectrophoretic (DEP) interactions.
