The Potrerillos Granite outcrops on the homonymous creek (68º 30´ W - 28º 27´ S), at the northern end of the Cuyania terrane, northwest of La Rioja Province, Argentina (Fig. 1). Among previous studies providing information on this granite and its regional context, we can mention Aceñolaza and Bernasconi (1969a), Aceñolaza et al. (1971), Caminos (1972) Maisonave (1979) and Caminos and Fauqué (2004). It is exposed in a tectonic block bounded by regional faults that gather the Grenvillian-age metamorphic base-ment of western Pampean Ranges (Espinal Formation) with the northernmost outcrops of the Precordillera.
