Resumen:
Determination of the specic surface area of porous materials is an important feature to establish their textural properties and their utilityas adsorbents for dierent applications. The most used technique for determining the specic surface area is nitrogen adsorption [1]. Theexperimental values obtained by this technique are adjusted by several isothermal equations. In this paper, we propose a new approach usingdynamic laser speckle (DLS) technique [3-6] to correlate the hydroadsorption capacity of the porous clays with their specic surface area.We performed DLS measurements for dierent samples. Then, we use the physicochemical nitrogen adsorption standard method to obtain theappropriate isotherm for determining specic surface area of the materials. Finally we constructed calibration curve using the specic surfacearea obtained by nitrogen adsorption and the DLS characteristic time of the hydroadsorption process.
