Resumen:
Arrays of nanowires and nanotubes are currently the focus of numerous investigations because of their potential applications and the new phenomena that they give rise. Some time ago we set about preparing these solids, starting with the embedding of hematite nanoparticles into the regular array of mesoporous matrices. Magnetite and maghemite display more promising properties than hematite, e.g., for high-density magnetic recording media. Hence, recently we have carried out alternative experiments to induce the structural transformations that lead from the hematite embedded nanowires to maghemite and magnetite ones.
