Resumen:
The α,β-unsaturated alcohols are important commodities in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industry. These compounds are obtained by a traditional noncatalytic process that represents a risk to the environmental. In this context the catalytic synthesis is a promising and clean alternative production way. The selective hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes has been widely studied on different catalysts, amongst them gold catalyst are the most promising ones due to their intrinsic selectivity to the hydrogenation of C=O bond. In the present work the hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde over gold supported on ceria with different surface area (240, 150 and 80 m2/g) is studied, both in liquid and in gas phase.
