Resumen:
Lipases are able to catalyze not only hydrolytic but also synthetic reactions of esterification, alcoholysis and trans-esterification among others. Among the commercially available biocatalysts there is no doubt that Novozym 435 is commonly used in the enantioselective synthesis of optically active alcohols, amines and carboxylic acids and more recently in the biodiesel industry under heterogeneous conditions. In this work, the effect of short chain alcohols on Novozym 435 is analyzed in terms of the physical integrity and the secondary structure of CALB. Additionally, the impact on the kinetic resolution of racemic profens using alcohols as reactants and solvents is discussed.
