Resumen:
Since the rise of Green Chemistry, multicomponent reactions have gained great importance in organic synthesis, as well as the use of heterogeneous catalysis.[1,2] For this reason, the commercial heteropolyacids (KC and PC) were turned into heterogeneous catalyst by sol-gel technique.[3,4] As an illustration of the advantages in combining heterogeneous catalysis with multicompnent processes, the three-component synthesis of trifluoromethylated hexahydropyrimidines is carried out using Keggin (KCSiO2) and Preyssler (PCSiO2) heteropolyacids encapsulated in a silica framework as catalysts (Scheme 1). The synthesized compounds have promised bioactivity, due to the presence of the trifluoromethyl group.[5]
