Effect of the Rh content on catalysts Ni-Al2O3 for dry reform-ing of methane

During last years the reforming of methane with CO2 has received great attention, from the perspective of global warming and alternative energy sources . This reaction is highly endothermic and the Ni catalysts typically used for this process become deactivated by carbon deposition and sintering of the metal. Several studies indicate that noble metals  present high performance and low carbon deposition but their low availability and high cost restrict their use in large-scale processes. The modification of catalysts based on Ni by addition of low concentrations of noble metals leads to catalytic systems of accessible cost with good catalytic properties and low sensitivity to carbon formation. The aim of this work is to study the effect of the addition of Rh in Ni/Al2O3 base catalyst, on the activity and carbon deposition and sulphur poisoning during the CH4 dry reforming.
