Resumen:
The production of etylbenzene was investigated for the octane reforming reaction using Pt catalysts supported on KY zeolites. The Si/Al ratios were 9, 17 and 25. Pt supported in KL zeolite was also used for comparison. The concentration of platinum (1%) was close to the nominal values in all samples. FTIR of adsorbed CO and XPS results indicate that largest SAR produces platinum species with higher electronic densities. The Y zeolite-supported catalysts showed initial conversion close to 100%. The sample with Si/Al 9 ratio had the largest decrease in conversion and largest amount of coke deposition, followed by sample with Si/Al 17 and 25 ratio. The increase in the Si/Al ratio improves the catalytic activity, selectivity and stability. The catalyst supported on the support with Si/Al 25 ratio was the most promising sample. Its activity at 300 minutes TOS, measured through the conversion (X=56,9%) and the yield to EtBz (DEtBz= 9,3%), were higher that a sample PtKL  zeolite. DEtBz= 9,3%), were higher that a sample PtKL  zeolite.DEtBz= 9,3%), were higher that a sample PtKL  zeolite.
