Resumen:
Several catalysts based on [RhMo6O24H6]3- (RhMo6) [1,2] heteropolyanion supported on different -Al2O3 based supports were prepared and characterized for testing the selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to hydrocinnamaldeyde. The characterization of pure and supported systems was carried out using several techniques including XRD, SEM-EDS Microscopy, Raman Microprobe and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopies. The catalysts based on RhMo6 showed, in general, a better Rh dispersion and catalytic performance in the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to hydrocinnamaldehyde if compared to the activity shown by a RhMo conventional catalyst obtained by successive impregnation with salts of both metallic ions, Rh(III) chloride and heptamolybdate. This last system tends to deactivate through time. The heteropolyanion-support interaction was analyzed by means of XPS, Raman Microprobe and Temperature Programmed Reduction (TPR). This study also showed a synergetic effect between Rh and Mo through which Rh promoted the Mo reducibility.
