Resumen:
In this work were studied C3 alcohols to explore to what extent C-C and C-O bond cleavage in the steam reforming. For this reason were studied 1-Propanol, 2-Propanol, 1,2-propanediol, 1,3-propanediol and 1,2,3-propanetriol (glycerol). The presence of intermediaries with aldehyde function, deactivate the catalyst due to its strong adsorption on metal sites. In contrast, the presence of hydroxy-aldehydes promoted reactions break C-C, improving gas.The reaction pathway from glycerol to acetol (by C-O bond cleavage on the metal site or dehydration onto the support) is responsible for subsequent reactions that lead to deactivation. The principal pathway to produce gas from glycerol involves C-C bond cleavage reactions from primary alcohols (2,3-dihidroxipropanal, 1,2-ethanediol and hydroxyacetaldehyde)
