Resumen:
Catalytic combustionisawell-developedprocesstoeliminatevolatileorganiccompounds(VOCs). Although thereisacontinuouseffortinformulatingnewcatalyticmaterials,studiesdevotedtoestimate kinetic parameterssuitablefordesignandoptimizationofcatalyticcombustorsarescarce.Akinetic study ofethanolcombustiononanefficientcatalystidentifiedasMn9Cu1 is reportedinthiscontribution. Ethanol isatypicalVOC,whichisfound,forexample,ineffluentsofprintingindustries.Thestudyaims to developreactionrateexpressionsandestimatekineticparameters.Thepresenceofonlyoneinterme- diate, namelyacetaldehyde,hasbeendetectedinsignificantamounts.Acetaldehydeturnsouttoreact more slowlythanethanol.ExperimentaldataweresatisfactorilyfittedemployingLHHWtypekinetic expressions. Theestimatedactivationenergyofethanoloxidationliesintherangeofvaluesreportedin the literatureforsimilarcatalysts.
