Resumen:
Abstracts  In this work the catalytic behavior of a series of cobalt catalysts supported on zirconia is studied. The reaction used is the selective reduction of NO using propane like agent reducer. These catalysts are characterized with Raman spectroscopy, reduction to programmed temperature, Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy, UV-sense and XPS, emphasizing the analysis in the physicochemical properties of the cobalt species. The results obtained indicate that the activity is substantially related with the concentration and consequent nature of the supported cobalt species. The formation of phases oxides segregated in the catalytic surface produces a decrease of the activity. The most active catalyst in the series contains Co(II) ions interacting with the support, in a tetrahedral coordination.
