Resumen:
The kinetic of limonene epoxidation with hydroperoxide as oxidizer and catalyzed by heteropolyoxotungstates of formula K10[M4(H2O)2(PW9O34)2].20H2O (PWM) with M = Co(II), Zn(II), Cu(II) and Mn(II) was investigated. Their characterization by physical -chemical techniques (XRD, FTIR, Raman, XPS), revealed different structure and composition for PWCu phase due to it thermal instability. The catalytic reaction was carried out with a phase transfer agent at atmospheric pressure; 2° C and with 1,2-dichloroethane as solvent. The reaction progress up to 40 h was followed by GC and products were analyzed by GC-mass. The PWCu phase showed ~ 96% of conversion and ~89 % of epoxy selectivity, so the study was continued about the Cu phase behaviour. It was concluded that due to the Cu Jahn-Teller distortion, this phase possesses structural properties that leads the highest catalytic activity compared to the other PWM phases.
