Resumen:
The two Bi(III) oxalates of the title were synthesized. Their infrared and Raman spectra were recorded and showed relatively similar spectral patterns. The spectra of Bi(OH)C2O4 are consistent with their known structural peculiarities. In the case of Bi2(C2O4)3⋅7H2O the spectroscopic analysis is in agreement with the presence of highly distorted tetradentate oxalate groups, generating a complex three-dimensional structural arrangement similar to those found in the two related hydrates of known structures, i. e. Bi2(C2O4)3⋅6H2O and Bi2(C2O4)3⋅8H2O.
