Resumen:
In this work we confirm that infrared spectroscopy is a powerful technique to detect renal calculi components. The studied calculi are composed mainly by oxalate and phosphate mixture as well as oxalate mixture. Special interest is centered in oxalate calculi because different phases may be present, which should be difficult to detect by other techniques. To improve the identification of different phases present in calculi the second derivative spectra were used. The FTIR spectroscopic jointly with the second derivative analysis allows to the urologist a good method for calculi components determinations. Consequently, in accordance to its composition correctly correlated with specific pathophysiologycal conditions providing to urologist important information about calculus treatment. The objective of this paper is to contribute to establish such relation.
