Resumen:
Four new Cu(II)/dipeptide complexes were investigated in solid state and in solution. They were synthesized and characterized by means of IR, electronic and EPR spectroscopic techniques. The crystal structures of [Cu(gly-val)].1/2H2O, [Cu(val-gly)], [Cu(val-phe)] and [Cu(phe-phe)] were determined by single crystal X-ray diffractometry. In all the complexes the Cu(II) cation is in a square-pyramidal environment. The structural study of the complexes in solution by EPR and electronic spectrsocopy suggests that in the frozen solutions the complexes exist mostly as polymeric species while the monomer moiety becomes significant at the lower concentrations studied.
