Second-order calibration using high-performance liquid chromatography with dual UV and fluorimetric detection for the analysis of sex hormones in environmental samples

The objective of this work was the development of a green method based on non-sophisticated instrumental for the quantification of sex hormones: seven natural and synthetic estrogens, three progestagens and one androgen, The apporach involves isocratic high-performance liquid chromatography with dual diode aaray and fluorescence detection in a single run, coupled to second-order calibration. A marked decrease is achieved in the consumption of organic solvents for cleaning, extraction and chromatographic separation, and experimental and elution times are shortened, with a single solid-phase extraction with C18 membranes.
