Experimental and theoretical studies on the Diels-Alder reactions of boron-activated alkenes

The Diels-Alder reactions of dialkylvinylboranes and alkylhalovinylboranes have been studied using experimental and theoretical approaches. Alkylhalovinylboranes were shown to be more efficient than dialkylvinylboranes in terms of reactivity and yields of products. In addition, B3LYP/6-31G* calculations predicted that the chiral alkylbromovinylboranes derived from (+)-2- and (+)-3-carene should display good facial and endo/exo stereoselectivities.
