Resumen:
This presentation aims to show preliminary results of a research called "Application of the Sociocognitive Conflict Theory (SCC) to University Level learning". The first phase of research supposed the experimental incentive of the SCC to evaluate the effects of SCC at learning knowledge. To reach this aim it was designed a quasi-experimental study with a sample of 60 students. The participants were Engineer students in their first year at University level. The sample was split off in three groups: an experimental group, composed by 12 pairs of students, worked with SCC incentive (with a trained researcher); a control group, constituted by 12 pairs, worked with the task without SCC incentive; and another control group, composed by 12 participants who made the task individually. All the involved participants had to learn the material offered and made the activities proposed, in a collaborative way or by them selves. The effects of the intervention were evaluated by a post-test. The results showed that participants who worked in the experimental group (with SCC incentive) had significantly better outcomes than both control groups.
