Metabolomics, the comprehensive analysis in which all themetabolites of an organism are identified and quantified, has recentlyemerged as a functional genomics methodology that contributes to theknowledge of the many complex molecular interactions in differentbiological systems [1]. Thus, the study of a metabolome represents thelogical progression from large-scale analysis of RNA and proteins atthe systems level [2-4].
