Resumen:
Some wastewaters as landfill leachates combine high values of DQO, TOC and toxicity with small relationships DBO/DQO. Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) are considered to be suitable for treatment of this type of wastewater. However, the use of ozone based technologies still has some crucial problems that should be resolved to improve the efficiency This paper report the study of the degradation of landfill leachate with ozone and ozone + UV, using samples obtained from different stages of the treatment plant. The experimental work included the determination of the evolution of DQO, DBO, TOC, UV, toxicity; the values of the instantaneous ozone concentration in gas and liquid phases were measured. Using the combination of second order kinetic expressions for the DQO and O3 with different calculated ?ozone doses/ consumed ozone?, this paper define and reports different efficiencies that include unreacted ozone as a new optimization variable
