Resumen:
For thefirst time, a mechanistic model of the solar photo-Fenton process with theFe3+-EDDS at neutral pH is developed. The Fe3+-EDDS complex was selectedbecause allow high percentages of micropollutant removal to be achieved atshort reaction times. To determine the model parameters, the data of acetamiprid(ACTM) removal in a synthetic secondary effluent, obtained in stirred tankreactors at different irradiances and liquid depths, were used. The model wassuccessfully validated outdoors in a raceway pond reactor (RPR), with a changeof scale from 0.85 to 19 L, pointing out the effect of diffuse radiation on thephoton absorption. This approach allows the development of control andoptimization tools for the photo-Fenton process at neutral pH in low-costphotoreactors.
