Resumen:
The production of ethanol from sorghum lignocellulosic-materials bya sequential methodology was investigated in the present work. Themethodology involves first the enzymatic hydrolysis of the lignocellulosicmaterials and later the alcoholic fermentation of the hydrolysate withSaccharomyces cerevisiae. The kinetics of both stages are characterized inorder to present a model for the sequential process. Later the kinetic equationswere embedded on a mathematical model used to solve an optimal controlproblem aimed at maximizing the productivity of the reactors train bymanaging the flow of hydrolisate feeding the fermentor.
