Resumen:
The objective of this work is to extend the zonecontrol approach from model predictive control to its stochasticcounterpart. The motivation behind this idea is that zones area natural extension of the concept of fixed set-point for systemssubject to persistent disturbances. Therefore, it is possible tokeep the outputs in desired regions without excessive controlactions. We consider linear systems subject to bounded additivenoise and propose a zone control formulation that includes hardconstraints on the inputs and soft constraints on the states. The performance of the proposed approach is compared tozone controller that ignores disturbances and the results showa significant reduction of control moves, which means thatthe stochastic controller represents an interesting alternative toreduce the cost associated with control actions and to enhancethe useful life of actuators.
