Resumen:
Employing diverse amounts of a TiO2 powder commercially available, different photocatalytic paints were formulated. The paint application was made with an aerograph on acrylic plates, and then the photocatalytic degradation of NOx was assessed in a planar reactor illuminated with UV (λ = 365 nm) and visible (λ = 400-700 nm) light lamps. The degradation capability of the elaborated coatings was evaluated over time. It was found that for the three photocatalytic paints the conversion drops as the paint is employed for several tests under UV radiation. As these coatings were formulated with carbon doped TiO2, a photocatalyst active under visible light, the NOx degradation under normal indoor light was also tested. However, the results shows an almost zero conversion for this condition when the paints were exposed to NOx for a long time.
