Resumen:
This work studies and carries out the mathematical modelling of a novel device for the inactivation of airborne microorganisms, combining bioaerosol capture by spray and UVGI disinfection. Bacilus subtilis was chosen as a model microorganism. Bacteria concentrations through the reactor were calculated, resulting in high efficiencies. A diminution of 6 orders of magnitude in the air flow may be achieved when setting a water-to-air flow ratio of 5x10-3. The outlet water, which contains a residual bacterial load, may be easily treated through chemical disinfectants. The results of this model and simulation may allow the construction of a lab-scale device and a subsequent scale change for a practical application.
