UV germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is one of the technologies employed to inactivate airborne microorganisms. In this work the modelling and experimental evaluation of a continuous UV photoreactor were developed. The complete modelling of the reactor was achieved by means of a commercial CFD tool. The reaction kinetics and the radiative transfer within the reactor were modelled externally. The conditions of the experimental runs were replicated in the computational simulations. Escherichia coli were used throughout this work as test microorganisms. Model predictions of inactivation showed good agreement with experiments.
