Resumen:
A model of the dynamics of asingle-nephron function, relating glomerulo-tubular balance, tubulo-glomerular feedback, peritubular blood viscosity, and external pres-sure, is developed and validated. The modelshows that complex behaviors of the neph-ron can be modulated by changes in the ef-ferent arteriole blood viscosity. The mainhypothesis is that the reabsorbed mass ?ow ismodulated by the hematocrit of the e¤erentarteriole, in addition to the Starling forces. This analytical description allows to predictchanges in peritubular capillary viscosity, gen-erated by periodic changes in the glomerular?ltration rate, eventually due to internal renaldysfunctions. External arterial pressure isalso allowed to change, and the parameters ofits dynamics are to describe the developing ofhypertension situations. This opens the wayto a control systems approach, aimed to mit-igate hypertension through the modi?cationof the blood viscosity by external forces.
