Resumen:
Advances oxidation processes (AOPs) could be convenient to treat waters contaminated by pesticides. The main problems with AOPs are their cost and the usually long processing times. However, the total destruction of pollutants is not always necessary. One way to reduce the operating cost is to determine the toxicity of the treated water at different stages of treatment by toxicity bioassays. The UV/H2O2 process was applied to the degradation of commercial formulations of glyphosate in water and different bioassays were used for determining sample toxicity (a species standardized of Holartic distribution Daphnia magna and two species of neotropical distribution Ceriodaphnia dubia and conifer Notodiaptomus). The obtained results show the effectiveness the process to reduce the toxicity of water polluted by glyphosate commercial formulations.
