Resumen:
The influence of both oxidizing (523 K) and reducing (673 K) activation pre-treatments on the catalytic behavior of a Au/Ce0.62Zr0.38O2 (Au/CZ) is investigated. The pre-reduced catalyst was found to show a higher activity than the pre-oxidized one. With the help of a number of characterization techniques including high resolution transmission (HRTEM) and high angle annular dark field scanning-transmission (HAADF-STEM) electron microscopies, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermo-gravimetric measurements of ultimate oxygen storage capacity (OSC), the higher activity of the catalyst pre-reduced at 673 K is proposed to be due to the specific chemical properties of the Au nano-particles strongly modified by the reduced CZ support.
