Resumen:
Gold nano-particles supported on reducible oxides have attracted the attention of the research community due to their exceptional activity for CO oxidation, water gas shift, and CO-PROX [1]. Particularly, Au/ceria catalysts have shown a remarkable catalytic performance. However, in spite of the intensive research efforts focused on the characterization of these catalysts, some aspects of the reaction pathways and the stability of these systems are still uncertain. Particularly, it have been reported that ceria-based catalysts for the process mentioned above suffer a progressive deactivation under reaction conditions due to carbonate species strongly adsorbed on the ceria surface [2]. In this work we investigated the inhibitory –and reversible-effect of CO2 on the CO oxidation over a Au/CeO2 catalyst by insitu DRIFT in combination with modulation excitation spectroscopy and mass spectrometry
