Homogeneous excitation and reception provides a much better base for in vivo absolute quantification of metabolites, cells and drugs levels with respect to inhomogeneous signal distribution. In this work we present a new RF probe with a Helmholtz pair that is capable of generating a homogeneous transmit field for the human body at both 1H and 19F at 3T. To obtain signals with high SNR two dedicated multiple element receive coils were developed suitable for liver and lymph node applications.
