Resumen:
Processing of biomass resources by several routes comprising pyrolysis, fermentation or oxidation might lead to C2-C4 carboxylic acids. These acids can be transformed via green processes in high value-added compounds such as liquid fuels and fuel additives, among others. One alternative is their conversion into light olefins by tandem ketonization/aldol condensation/deoxygenation reactions. In this work we investigated the ?one pot? gas-phase conversion of butyric acid (BA) to C2-C7 olefins on Zn-Zr oxides with mild acid-base properties. The different reaction pathways of the complex reaction system were elucidated as well as the effect of the mixed oxide composition on the product distribution.
