Resumen:
A series of La-promoted Ni/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared varying the molar La/Ni ratio. They were tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane at relatively low temperatures (300 ? 400°C). The studies carried out with these catalysts demonstrated that La3+ species interact with both Ni2+ species and alumina. Ni species become more reducible leading to an enhanced ethane conversion. Besides, the interaction between Ni2+ and alumina is weakened and consequently the selectivity to ethylene is lower. An optimal La/Ni molar ratio of 0.08(EDX) was found. This catalyst achieved an ethylene yield of 13.4 % at 400ºC.
