Resumen:
In this work, the synthesis of Cu/SiO2 catalysts by wet impregnation of copper nanoparticles (CuNP) suspensions over commercial Aerosil 300® was proposed. Two different protocols for the CuNP synthesis was carried out: (i) a green one, using water as solvent and (ii) other one involving ethylene glycol as solvent. To confirm the advantages of this preparation procedure, a third catalyst was prepared by the conventional mechanical mixing of CuO with SiO2. The catalysts were tested in the range from 300 to 500 °C for the Catalytic Selective Reduction of NOX with H2, reaction of environmental interest. All material were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programed reduction cycles (TPR), fluorescence of X-rays spectrometry, laser Raman and N2 absorption for specific surface BET measurements. The catalyst prepared from the aqueous suspension resulted active and selective at 300 °C, the lowest temperature analysed. While, the solid synthesized with the CuNP suspended in DEG presented activity at high temperature. The metal-support mechanical mixture showed a lower yield and inactivity at 300 °C for the tested reaction. The size of the supported particles and the degree of metal - support interaction would be the cause of the catalytic behaviours. Keywords: copper nanoparticles, nanoparticle green synthesis, H2 - SCR-NOX.
