Resumen:
In this work, the catalytic reaction of 1,3-butanediol (1,3BDOL) in the gas phase using different acid catalysts such as NaZSM5, HZSM5, SiO₂-Al₂O₃, Al₂O₃, HPA/SiO2 and ZnZSM5 at T = 523K was studied in order to obtain bio -butadiene (BD). The acidic properties of the catalysts were determined by infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy of pyridine, while textural properties were obtained by physisorption of N2 at 77K. The main products of the reaction of 1,3BDOL were butadiene, unsaturated alcohols mainly 3-buten-1-ol, propene, formaldehyde, methyl vinyl ketone, methyl ethyl ketone, butanol, butanal and 4-methyl-1,3-dioxane. For the same conversion level of 1,3BDOL (60-65%), zeolites HZSM5 and NaZSM5, which possess both Brønsted and Lewis acidic sites, were the most selective for butadiene formation, while Al2O3 (Lewis acidity) favored the formation of other products such as propene, formaldehyde and condensation products. This indicates that the selectivity towards BD was directly related to the presence of Brønsted and Lewis acid sites. Finally, using HPA/SiO2 it was possible to obtain, under the conditions of this work, a maximum yield towards BD of 75%.
