The fundamentals of the catalysis by transitions metals is explained with an emphasis on basic electronic interactions, regularities among transition metal series, crystal structure and different effects (crystal size, metal-support interaction, metal-metal interaction). Practical aspects of industrial catalysis by supported transition metals is approached by means of examples of industrial assistance projects at INCAPE, Argentina.
