Resumen:
Fertilizers, wastewater, and solid resiues can cause toxic concentratiosn of nitrate and nitrite in water sources. The US has set limits of 50 an 0.1 ppm of nitrate and nitrite respectively for drinking quality. the heterogeneous catalityc reduction of nitrate to n2 with h2 in water is an attractive alternative. The most sudiedcatalysts is de pd-Cu system over inorganic supports. Few investigations have been published reporting studies with metals supported on resins. In this work the activity of Pd-Cu supported over macroporous weak anionic resin, is studied. Conversions levels of 150 ppm N Nitrate were obtained in a batch reactor. the results demostrated that Cu fixation by controlled surfase reaction allows a beter activity and selectivity, either at low or high metal loading.Besides de Pd an Cu loadings affects the nitrates adsortion capacity. XRD indicates the presence of Pd and PdO at high metal loadings.
