Resumen:
The nickel carbonyl is a toxic and volatile substance at room temperature being its effects more pronounced than the carbon monoxide and nickel separately. To know the conditions of its formation and decomposition and to increase the knowledge of the reforming furnace cooling process, theoretical and laboratory studies were performed to develop a new method of cooling. In this paper a new cooling method is described based on the three conditions necessary for the formation of nickel carbonyl: reforming temperature, oxidation state of nickel and carbon monoxide concentration in the system. Keywords: Nickel carbonyl, carbon monoxide, reforming furnace, reforming temperature, carbon monoxide.
