Resumen:
Texture, crystallinity, concentration/distribution of acid sites and the catalytic behavior of different acidic materials such as γ-Al2O3-Cl, SO4-ZrO2 and three zeolites: HY, H-Mor and MCM-22, were studied. Objective was raised to select suitable materials for the isomerization and dehydration of carbohydrates in order to produce 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) or 5-etoximetilfurfural (EMF) from concentrates of glucose. The materials were characterized by N2 adsorption at 77 K (Sg, Vp), XRD (structure and crystallinity) and temperature programmed desorption of pyridine (TPD-Py) adsorbed at 298 K (density and strength of acid sites). The catalytic activity was evaluated with 0.1 g of catalyst by the reaction test of decomposition of isopropanol (IPA), at 210 °C and 1 atm into a fixed bed reactor, plug flow, using N2 as a purge gas, a relationship molar N2/IPA=12 and a variable WHSV of 1.57; 3.14 and 4.72 h-1. The materials are of varied texture, crystallinity and acidity for the present purpose suitable reaction. In reaction with IPA, the SZ showed an amphoteric behavior and other catalysts a different acid behavior to propilene and DIPE.
