Resumen:
The liquid phase citral hydrogenation carried out on PtGe caltalysts prepared by different techniques and supported on activated carbon powder purified and functionalized with HNO3 was investigated. In catalysts prepared by conventional successive impregnation (CI), Ge does not improve both the activity and the selectivity to unsaturated alcohols. However, PtGe catalysts prepared by controlled surface reaction (CSR) show better activity and selectivity to unsaturated alcohols (UA). It is needed a large of Ge to polarize The C=O group in the catalysts preparared by CI because Ge is located mainly on the support and the remanent is located on the Pt particles. In PtGe SCR catalysts Ge moitities polarizes the C=O group since they would be placed near Pt nanoclusters, thus giving high selectivity to UA.
