Resumen:
The effect of addition of HCl and Ir (1 wt%) on support of SiO2-Al2O3 with different percentages of SiO2 (30, 40, 60, 70 and 80) in the reaction of decalin selective ring opening (Treaction=325 and 350 °C) was studied. At both reaction temperatures, the addition of HCl in the supports containing 70 and 80% SiO2 (possessing similar surface area, acidity and structure) scarcely influences the reaction products distribution compared to the calcined supports. In other cases, the effect of HCl varies according to support. The incorporation of Ir increases the decalin conversion at two reaction temperatures, being this effect is more noticeable in the support of low acidity, ie, those containing 30 to 40% SiO2. For all the studied supports, iridium containing catalysts show the highest yield to cracking, ring opening and contraction products at 350 and 325 °C. This emphasizes the tremendous influence of hydrogenolytic activity of iridium. Increasing the reaction temperature promotes the cracking and dehydrogenation selectivity, but decreases substantially to ring contraction products. Furthermore, at 350 ° C occurs a slight decrease in selectivity to ring opening products about 325 ° C, however, the large increase in the conversion leads to increased formation of these products.
