Resumen:
The effect of samarium on the thiotolerance of Pt/NaX, Pt/KL and Pt/NaY catalysts  for n-octane reforming was studied in this work, aiming to produce ethylbenzene and o-xylene.  It was noted that samarium changed the textural properties of the zeolites. The electronic density of platinum was also affected, mainly in the NaY zeolite, in which a decrease was noted. Samarium improved the octane conversion on NaY, but did not affect the other samples. No significant effect of samarium was found regarding the yield of ethylbenzene and o-xylene. However, it increased the thiotolerance of all catalysts mainly in NaX and NaL zeolites.
