Resumen:
In recent times, the development of efficient technologies to remove NOx from the regenerator of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit has become a major concern due to the strengthening of exhaust emission legislation. As most of refineries use CO promoters, NOx reduction catalysts should operate in the presence of a CO promoter or have the ability to simultaneously remove both NOx and CO pollutants. Metal oxide-based catalysts have been considered as suitable candidates for noble metal catalysts in emission control applications. Among them, copper oxide has been pointed as a very active species for this reaction1. Besides, it was found that the addition of iron oxide improves the catalytic performance of  Cu/ZrO2 catalysts in this reaction2. In the present work, zirconia-supported copper and iron catalysts were characterized by several techniques before and after the reaction to get more knowledge about the catalyst performance.
