Resumen:
The use of Pd membranes for hydrogen purification is challenging because of high cost; corrosion caused by exposure to sulfur-compounds; and embrittlement caused by H2 exposure at temperatures below 300 ºC. To avoid these problems, alloys of Pd have been widely studied as membrane materials.PdCu and PdAu alloys have been shown to display significant sulfur-tolerance . PdAg alloys, on the other hand, exhibit very high hydrogen permeabilities, but are known to corrode in the presence of even small concentrations of H2S. Ternary PdAgAu membranes have the potential to combine high permeability with sulfur-tolerance. Therefore, the aim of the present work is to study the resistance to sulfur of the PdAgAu ternary alloy.
