Resumen:
Rh catalysts are very active and stable in the catalytic partial oxidation (CPO) of methane to synthesis gas; however, their high cost may limit their application. Ru-based catalysts are an alternative to the expensive Rh materials. However, these catalysts tend to deactivate because of oxidation of metallic ruthenium, decreasing the selectivity in CO and H2 and leading to total oxidation products. In particular, their activity and stability depends on the nature of the support and the preparation route. To increase the catalyst stability, the aim of this work is preparing Ru catalysts (ca. 0.25 wt.%) from layered hydrotalcite-type (HT) compounds. Catalysts are obtained by calcination of Ru/Mg/Al HTs or by incipient wetness impregnation of calcined Mg/Al HTs; HTs intercalated with carbonates (HT-CO3) and silicates (HT-sil) are used in both preparation routes.
